David Lee Curtis age 72, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Liberal, KS. He was born May 7, 1948 in Odell Nebraska, the son of Don and Ila (Steiner) Curtis. Dave was raised in Nebraska and was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He also loved KU basketball and the Denver Broncos. Dave served in the Nebraska National Guard for 2 years and taught and coached in Nebraska and Iowa before moving to Liberal in 1979. He then worked with his parents at an oilfield business doing corrosion control for many years. He married Carla King on May 2, 1987. Together they had one daughter, Amanda. He and his wife were co-owners of KD Liquor in Liberal. Dave is survived by his wife, Carla, Liberal; daughters, Amy Wartman and husband Greg of Ulysses, KS and Amanda Blackburn and husband Eric, Mt Hope, KS; grandchildren, RayLynn, Aubrey, and Grayson; sister Barbara Westbrook and husband Dale, Haxtun,CO; numerous nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. There will be no viewing as Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
