Obituary Cornelia Faye Churchill, 67 of Holmen passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Mayo Health System, La Crosse. She was born in San Angelo, TX. to Edward Holstein Jr. and Dora Ruth (Redus) Sojourner. In 1967 the family moved to Fremont, CA and Faye graduated from Washington High School in 1971. On December 18, 1971 Faye married Donald “Don” Dean Churchill in Reno, NV. and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2006. Faye and Don met through friends while they were both racing motorcycles, they married and lived in Fremont and Livermore, CA. from 1971 until 2003. Faye worked as a Veterinarian Surgical Tech in Fremont from the 70’s into the 90’s. When they moved to Livermore Faye worked as an office clerk at the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District for the County of Alameda and Don worked for the City of Palo Alto, CA. They took early retirement and moved to Holmen, WI in 2003. After moving to Holmen and Don’s home state, Faye and Don enjoyed the relaxed times together exploring the areas of WI, and making many special wonderful new friends. For their 35 years of marriage, Faye loved being together with her husband and best friend Don as they enjoyed flying, riding and touring on their motorcycles, being in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, walks in the rain and traveling to many different places throughout the United States, many other countries, or just sitting in the same room together. The changing of the four seasons was always a wonderful beauty to Faye and she even loved the snow. After Don’s death, Faye started working at the Holmen Kwik Trip early mornings Monday through Friday where she enjoyed taking care of her coffee bar. She loved her customers as they became a special part of her daily life for the 7 years she worked there and looked forward to seeing them each morning knowing she was helping them start their day. Faye was blessed to have these wonderful people in her life who she felt became a special part of her life. After Faye stopped working, she enjoyed the fun bunch of neighbors in the senior community she moved to in Holmen. There were so many wonderful caring fun people living there. They made their own fun together and kept watch out over each other with loving care because they all had the same connection of growing older. There were card games, ladies neighborhood luncheons, day trips with the gals, going to movies, concerts in the park, Friday morning meetings at McDonald’s for coffee with many of the neighbors joining in, spur of the moment gatherings for dinners, birthday gatherings to celebrate, afternoon walks that would take over an hour because there would be groups stopping in the street to visit and enjoying time together or sitting on porches laughing and relaxing with a great bunch of folks that really knew how to relax and have a fun time. They did all this because they knew how to appreciate and love living. Faye is survived by an older brother, Edward Herman “Sonny” Sojourner of Ripon, CA.; Sonny’s daughter, Jennifer Ruth (Sojourner) Gall and her family of Ripon, CA.; a cousin, Patricia “Patty” Baron of Houston, TX.; Faye also leaves behind a VERY VERY special, treasured and wonderful family of friends, John and Lisa Happel, Mike and Lisa, Benjamin and Anna Hesch, and Lenny and Laurie Miller who all had been her total and complete support system for many years. They were not born family but she was the luckiest to be able to choose them as her family and will take their love with her. Faye also kept in her heart all the many special and very dear friends made while living in Holmen and also those left behind in CA.
