Barry Joseph Johnson September 09, 1946 – September 26, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook BREAUX BRIDGE ~ Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at a 2:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Barry Joseph Johnson, age 74, who passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence in Breaux Bridge. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette at a later date. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mr. Johnson was a native of Cecilia and a lifelong resident of Poche Bridge. He was the owner of Barry’s Cajun Cuts in Lafayette for over thirty years and upon retirement, continued to cut hair on the porch of his home. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A veteran of the military, Mr. Johnson proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He loved hunting, was an extreme UL baseball enthusiast and was known in Cajun country as the “turn two guy” as said best by Jay Walker… www.facebook.com/622505292/posts/10164441754735293/ Survivors include two sons, B.J. Johnson and his wife, Jessica, of Youngsville and Zack Johnson and his wife, Jacquelyn, of Hayden, CO; five grandchildren, Marie Johnson, Averie Johnson, Baylor Johnson, Peyton Johnson and Sierra Johnson; and one sister, Sandra Johnson Melancon of Carencro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Roger Johnson; one sister, Janet Johnson Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Melancon and Shelton Smith. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday and will be extended until after the service time until 6:00 p.m. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N.
