Our beloved mother and grandmother, Arline M. “Chickie” Ellis, 94, of Kingsford went to be with Dad in heaven on Monday, September 28, 2020. Arline was born on February 1, 1926 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late John and Jennie (Isacson) Swanson. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1944 and worked at the sewing factory on the Northside of Iron Mountain during WWII. In 1947, Arline married Laurel “Lolly” Ellis in Iron Mountain; he passed in May of 1961. She enjoyed knitting & crocheting and she was the “Queen” of garage sales. Arline was an extremely talented artist and painted many beautiful pictures. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she cherished spending time with her family and friends. Spending Christmas Eve at her home with all the family was very special to her. Arline is survived by her six children, John (Debbie) Ellis of Iron Mountain, Mark (Kathy) Ellis of Quinnesec, Jack (Wanda) Ellis of Aurora, Jim (Candy) Ellis of Quinnesec, Laurie (John) Jessen of Quinnesec and Danny (Janice) Ellis of Iron Mountain; 22 grandchildren, Jamie (Kathi) Ellis, Jeremy Ellis (Jenna), Kelli Ellis, Shawn Ellis (Dawn), Ryan Ellis, Eric Ellis, Jason Ellis, Jacqie Ellis (Dallas), Jennifer (Doug) Reed, Rob Ellis, Jennifer (Aman) Sahi, Ashley Ellis, John Jessen (Brooke), Jay Jessen, Brad (Karen) Ellis, Jana LaPoint (Eric), Jodi Ellis (Elliott), Dean (Corrie) Ellis, Katie (Andy) Gibbons, Kevin (Heather) Ellis, Aly (Shawn) Katerberg, and Erin Dreher (Kevan); 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pat Ellis of Kingsford, many nieces and nephews, and her buddy, Mary Jessen. Along with her parents and husband, Arline was preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, Orville (Audrey) Swanson and Herbert (Robina) Swanson; a brother-in-law, Gordy Ellis; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack (Joyce) Andrews.
