Catherine Mae “Cathy” Lomax Davis Cathy Lomax was born March 4, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Jim and Dorothy Lomax, the seventh of eight children. Her father’s work had the family on the move a bit, so she grew up and went to schools in Creston, Iowa, Omaha, and Fremont. A wild child and a rock-n-roller, she met Jeff Davis in 1977 at high school, and they married in 1980, in Fremont. They had two daughters, Cindy and Erin. Cathy took care of her mom, Dorothy Lomax, for about 13 years in Fremont. In addition to helping the girls grow up, she kept a hand on Jeff’s reins, guiding the family with a special brand of toughlove and silliness. She opened her door to relatives, friends, friends of relatives and relatives of friends. Cathy worked at Crystal Clear Optical in Elkhorn in the late 1980s, Merry Maids, Half-Price Store, and most recently, as a cashier for HyVee, mainly at night, for about 18 years. She enjoyed a good comedy show, rock-n-roll, John C. Fremont Days, rides on the motorcycle, and the occasional glass of wine. Survivors include her husband, Jeff of Fremont; daughters, Cynthia Tweedy of Fremont, and Erin Davis of Omaha; son, Matthew of Iowa; siblings, John Paul of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Bonnie and Bob Lawlor, Rich and Mary Lomax, Carol and Jim Weis, Pat and Paul Ward of Cheyenne Wyoming, Al Lomax of Spink, S.D., Mike and Ann Lomax of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Natalie Sawyer Davis; multitudinous nephews and nieces; and four grandchildren. She died unexpectedly Thursday, July 23, 2020, in Omaha. A celebration of life will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the family’s home at 1510 North Somers Ave. Fremont, NE. Read Less
