Joe Dewayne Mitchell, 51, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. Born on March 7, 1969 in Red Bay, AL, he was a son to Joseph and Emma Adine Flynn Mitchell. Joe attended Becker and Amory schools and he had worked on a river boat and in the area furniture industry. He enjoyed listening to music, playing card games, hunting, fhishing, and riding horses in his younger years. Joe was a huge Alabama football fan. He grew up in the Pentecostal Church. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory. Survivors include his wife, Janet Mitchell of Amory; two daughters, Emily and Rachel Mitchell both of Gattman; one brother, Larry Mitchell of Amory; one sister, Cynthia Basham (Dewayne) of the Sipsey Fork Community; grandchild, Kaeleigh Danielle McCullar; nieces, Kimberly McDonald and Jennifer Basham; nephews, Raylin Mitchell and Jonathan Basham; and a host of great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Marlin and Millie Rae Flynn; niece, Brandy Basham; nephew, David Basham; aunts and uncles, Harvey and Maetta Mitchell, Gertha and Johnny Davis, and Dorothy and Charles Humphries. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
