Salata, age 89, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital. Eugenia (Jean) was born in Chestertown, MD, daughter of the late William Arthur Coleman and Bernice (Schauber) Coleman. Our fondest memory of Jean will be her love of board games and jigsaw puzzles. There was always a jigsaw puzzle in progress in her home, and she delighted in playing all types of board games with her children and grandchildren. Jean loved her garden and to watch the endless variety of birds at the backyard feeder. Jean was a practical nurse who worked for the Medical Center of Delaware. She lived in Wilmington for 38 years prior to moving to Newark in 1999. Jean was pre-deceased by a son, Thomas E. Taylor (2005) and a daughter, Carolyn Luce (2019), her brothers, John (Jack) Coleman, William Coleman and a sister, Marie Krug. She is survived by sons, Steven Taylor, John Salata (Karen) and her daughters, Martha Taylor, Amy Taylor, Laura Sophrin (Walter) and Mary Sierra (Robert). Her legacy includes 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Services will be private.
