Obituary Charles Edward Goodman Ill, was born October 2, 1992. He was the only son born to proud parents, Lisa A. Hearn and Charles E. Goodman Jr. in San Diego, CA. “Lil. Charles”, as he was affectionately called by his family attended Knox & Euclid Elementary, Horace Mann & Muirlands Middle School and graduated from La Jolla High with the “Class of 2010”. He attended DeVry University and Grossmont College, with a major in Business Management as he dreamed of opening his own business someday. In September 2009, while in high school, Charles was employed at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in Environmental Services, where he remained for ten years until his passing. Charles, who was an was the only child, never married and had no children. He was named the God-father of his newly born cousin, Ziahar A. Singleton, whom he nick named “Cash”. Charles was a young man who was raised up to love, forgive, and stand alone when a man has to. He believed and was taught to help and care for family, and when doing so, he always went above and beyond. He learned to help friends whenever it was needed. He would give clothes, food and even money to help his, family, friends and even a stranger or homeless on the streets; He truly had a big heart towards mankind. Charles was funny, and always joking around. His laugher was contagious, causing others to laugh without even knowing why they were laughing. Charles began taking Taekwondo lessons at an early age. He also was learning to the Ukulele. He was an excellent swimmer. He learned and developed a love for cooking from his Aunt MaryKay and his cousin, Leoina and it’s also well-known that he greatly enjoyed his co-worker, Sheila’s cooking. Everyone knows how much he cared his riding mobile. He could maneuver and vanish in his car better than the “Fast and the Furious”. Charles was a very respectful, hardworking and strong individual. He enjoyed his job and made many long-lasting friendships. . Charles truly loved the Lord. He tried to live his life through Jesus Christ’s teaching, by loving God and forgiving one another. He dearly loved his mother, and whenever she needed him, he was there. He honored her, took care of her up until the last day of his passing. They had a bond hat could not be broken, he was his mom’s best friend. They truly took care of one another. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Leonia Flowers, great-grandparents, Monroe and Dorothy Johnson (Owners of Dorothy’s CafĂ©), William & Elmira Hearn; uncles, J.A. Jackson and Gene Jackson; his Aunt Katie Shujan and first cousin Jabar Jones. On Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 8:ll P.M. in San Diego, CA, Charles Edward Goodman III was called home to glory. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and supportive mother, Lisa Hearn of San Diego, CA; his devoted and loving father, Charles Goodman Jr. and significant other, Lanita Phillips of Tacoma, WA; grandmother, Yvonne Jones; uncles: Bobby Darden (Kim) of San Diego, CA, Roy Lee Brown and Eddie Goodman both of San Diego, CA; aunts: Tamiko Lazar, Leneir Williams, Brenda Robbson, Mary-Helen Jackson, Mary-Kay Jackson, Ruby Jackson, Rita Jackson and Pearl Jackson all of San Diego; best friends “Hs circle of Bros”: Lymen, Johnny, Jamonte, Zyair, Terrell, Markiel, and Marcus. and a host of cousins, other relatives and his UCSD co-workers who will mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life.
