Obituary Steven Mitchell Rakunas passed away in his sleep Sunday, May 10, 2020. Steven is survived by his very special son Ian Rakunas whom he adored, his former wife Colleen Hill-Rakunas of Traverse City, his parents Fred and Gwen Rakunas of Eastport, and brother Jeff (Rachel) Rakunas of Cypress, Texas. Also surviving are 2 nephews Drew Taylor of Algonac, Mich, and Owen Rakunas, and niece Peyton Rakunas of Cypress, Texas, uncles Ernie Rubas of Oak Lawn, Ill, Larry (Mary) Rakunas of St. Charles, Ill, Casey Rakunas of Woodridge, Ill, and several cousins. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held later this summer. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eastport. Because it was important to Steve that his son Ian be able to continue his higher education, a fund is being set up in his name for Ian’s college expenses should friends desire. Memorial contributions may be sent to 4Front Credit Union with final details to be posted soon. Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
