Obituary Joyce Louise Scheitler, 82 of Rapid City, passed away surrounded by her family, Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Joyce was born March 10, 1938 in Oak Park, IL to William and Helen (Oates) Evans. Joyce was a loving mother of 4, grandmother of 6, great grandmother to 8 and loved spending time with every one of them. Joyce and her late husband Rich, retired and moved to Northern Michigan from Illinois in 2003. She enjoyed her hummingbirds, tending to her flowers, neighbors and Sunday dinners with family and friends. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, Facebook and playing games on her computer. On January 26, 1957 in Maywood, IL she married Richard R. Scheitler Sr who preceded her in death February 22, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her children Gary (Jill M.) Scheitler of Rapid City, Greg (Deb) Scheitler of Oroville, CA, Rich Jr. (Jill E.) Scheitler of Central Lake, Julie Scheitler of Asheville, NC, sister Donna Jean Evans of Maywood, IL, brother in law Ronald (Barb) Scheitler of Tomah, WI, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A celebration of Joyce’s life will take place at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memorials Processing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
