Lydia’s Obituary Lydia Lou Baron, age 89 of Norton Shores, formerly of Hesperia and Ludington, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Dayspring Assisted Living Center “The Cottage” in Norton Shores. Lydia was born on December 28, 1930 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Carl Albert and Johanna Anna (Schubert) Liebing and later married John Baron in 1957. John preceded her in death on January 12, 2014. Lydia had been a teacher at the Pere Marquette School in Ludington for several years until her retirement and moved to the Hesperia after retirement and moved to Norton Shores in 2018. Lydia loved sharing information with others, vegetable and flower gardening, creating with paintings, being in the Michigan outdoors and worked a small wood mill with her husband for several years during their retirement. Lydia was a “tough lady” but always wanted to enrich her children’s lives with learning opportunities. Lydia is survived by her children, Stuart Baron of Hesperia; Scott (Amy) Baron of St. Mary’s, Georgia; Marcia (David) Hansen of Johnston, Iowa; her grandchildren, Thomas (Kari) Baron; Heather (Matt) Weiner; Kiersten Hansen. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; by her brothers, Ed Liebing, Art Liebing, Phil Liebing, and Dick Liebing. Graveside services will be held later in the summer or fall of 2020 when traveling and health issues are lifted at the West Hesperia Cemetery with her husband, John.
