Luanna Mozelle Bryant August 25, 1931 – April 28, 2020 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Luanna Mozelle Rinker Bryant was born August 25, 1931 in Grenville, NM to Ernest and Hattie Rinker. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2020 at home in La Luz, NM. She lived a long and full life. At the age of 3 the family moved to Roy, NM then because of the dust bowl, they purchased a farm on the French Tract, an irrigated farm community near Springer, NM where she attended a one-room school, completing the first 6 grades in 4 years. She attended church 9 months before her birth and continued regular attendance throughout her lifetime. She was saved at the age of 8 during a revival preached by Harold Dye at First Baptist Church of Springer, NM. Her Father had been saved only a few years earlier in a revival also preached by Brother Dye. When she was 12 the family moved to Tucumcari, NM graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1948 at the age of 16. In 1949 she was married to her first husband and they lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for 10 years and in Palmdale, CA for two years. During this time they had two daughters and one son. She returned to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1963 after divorce. She then met H L Bryant and they were married on May 30, 1964 and moved to High Rolls where they lived for almost 40 years. Due to health reasons, they moved from the mountains to their present home in La Luz in 2002. She was active in her churches wherever she lived, having served as church secretary of Trinity Baptist Church in Tucumcari, WMU President of First Baptist Church of La Feria, Texas, SS teacher of 9-10 year olds at First Southern Baptist Church of Palmdale, California, and 1st and 2nd grade teacher for many years at First Baptist Church of Alamogordo. She also worked in VBS and sang in the choir for many years. She had her first job in a printing plant in Tucumcari. In La Feria, Texas she was receptionist, bookkeeper for the weekly newspaper, “The La Feria News,” also reporting and proof reading. After returning to Alamogordo, NM she worked for Base Supply at Holloman AFB for Nearly 3 years, then worked for the Alamogordo Daily News on a part-time basis as proof reader and type setter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hattie Rinker; a son, William Ernest Penn, a great grandchild, Joshua Perkin and her husband, H.L. Bryant. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Michelle Penn of Lancaster, California and Arvie Cheryl Robertson of Boron, California; one son, H.L. “Chip” Bryant and wife, Julie of La Luz, NM; 5 grandchildren, Rhonda Perkin of Florida, Luanna Robertson of California, Joshua, David and Miranda Bryant of La Luz; 4 great grandchildren, Larina, Adrian, Bailey and Lathoran; and 5 great-great grandchildren. The Bryant family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc. to direct the funeral services.
