Kathryn Massaro, loving mother and grandmother, age 71 years, of 2 Christy Avenue, Leeds, N.Y., passed away on May 3, 2020, at her home. She was born on September 4, 1948 in East Meadow, N.Y. and is the daughter of the late Jack and Dorothy (Pankowsky) Massaro. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Janie Dillworth. Survivors include her son Sean Clevenstine and his children Alexis and Richard, and her daughter Krisianne Clevenstine and her daughter Emma Rain Whitbeck. Kathryn is one of seven siblings including Maria Leis, Jackie Massaro, Deborah Lane, John Massaro and Joyce Massaro. Kathryn was devoted to family and thought of her in- laws as brothers and sisters including Bernie Lies, Dave Dillworth, Jonas Havens, Patrick Lane, Lisa Massaro and Cheryl Rings. She also held her three dear “sisters of the heart” that she adopted into the family Julie Rhodes, Kathy Hulbert and Christine O’Connell. Among her large and extended family, she will be greatly missed by 16 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and a network of cousins in Greene, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as many friends and neighbors. Kathryn was a very devout Catholic at the Sacred Heart Church Parish in Cairo, NY. She made friends wherever she went, too many to ever list. She is known to all for her deep faith, resilience, quick smile and boundless love and kindness, but also for an amazing sense of humor. She battled cancer for over a decade, but it never kept her from witty remarks or interfered with her consideration of others. With the wonderful assistance of Community Hospice, she passed away peacefully at home with family and friends at her side. Services for the immediate family will be held and interment will take place at the family plot of St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill, N.Y.
