Jane Alice Brown August 03, 1947 – May 29, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Jane Alice Gossett Brown, 72, of Lore City, Ohio went to meet her heavenly father on May 29, 2020 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born August 3, 1947 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William E. and Mary Marcella Jackson Gossett. Jane was baptized June 26, 1955 in the Christian Church of Flushing where she later taught Sunday School children for many years. She graduated salutatorian from Flushing High School in 1965 and later graduated from Aultman School of Nursing in 1968. Her nursing career spanned 42 years extending from hospitals in Falmouth, Massachusetts, Columbus, Ohio, and Barnesville, Ohio to serving as Home Health Director at Barnesville and First American in Cambridge, Ohio. Jane’s last years were at Valley Hospice of Wheeling as a hospice nurse. She loved taking care of all she met and was an “earthly angel” to many. She was generous and giving of her time and talent. In addition to her parents, William E. and Mary Marcella Gossett, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Edwin “Ed” Gossett. Surviving are her husband, James Arthur Brown Jr. of Lore City; a brother, Earl Gossett and his wife Debbie (Coon) Gossett of Barnesville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Fern (Moore) Gossett of Flushing, Ohio; a daughter, Jodi (Brown) McGuire and her husband Timothy McGuire of Cambridge, Ohio; a son, James “Jimmy” Brown III and his wife Carol (Indermuhle) Brown of Thornville, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Ryan and Zane McGuire, Corey, Courtney, Luke, and Isaiah Brown. She also leaves so many special friends behind including Carla Thompson, Dee Blake, Rita Hanes, and her co-workers. She loved her grandchildren deeply and would do anything for them. Jane made every effort to be at their sporting events wherever they were held and whether it was track, basketball, football, or baseball. She loved sports and she enjoyed watching them. She was very proud of each one. She was their #1 fan! They will always cherish their time they had her in their lives. She was an avid flower gardener. At this time of the year, she and her daughter always enjoyed buying and planting flowers together. She and her husband loved to vacation. Her goal was to visit every U.S.state. They even ventured to Alaska in a camper. She spent many summers camping with her grandchildren roasting marshmallows. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic a private burial will be held in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a date and time to be announced later. Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Flushing Christian Church or Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp at 8200 Carnation Road Southeast Bergholz, OH 43908.
