Ethel Louise Simmons Whitney was born August 20, 1941, in Woods County Oklahoma to Claude William Simmons and Mary Ethel Vernon Cropp, and passed away May 9, 2020, in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 19 days. Those that knew her knew she was quick to correct anyone that did not call her by Louise. Louise grew up east of Waynoka on her family’s farm. She was remarkably close to her 3 younger brothers, Bob, Donald, and Paul. She attended Waynoka Schools and graduated in 1959. She began working at the phone company in Alva, Oklahoma. Louise dated and then married Everette Dale Whitney December 26, 1959, at the Waynoka Baptist Church. From this union three children were born, Foster Leroy Whitney, born and delivered to heaven in 1960, Vernon Dale Whitney, born 1962, and Angela Lea Whitney Pearson, born 1964. They lived in a small apartment in Waynoka, but soon after moved north of Waynoka to the McGill Ranch. Louise began her food service career at the Waynoka Hospital as the Dietary Manager. She would later attend Dietary Managers School in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She worked at Share Medical Center as the Dietary Manager for several years. Her last and probably favorite job was at the Northwest Treatment Center in Waynoka. She first worked in the kitchen there and later moved to the nursery where she instilled her love in numerous babies and toddlers. She was a caretaker through and through to everyone she knew. Rodeo was huge part of Louise’s life. Though not a participant herself she would often be found in the stands cheering for Everette and then later her son, Vernon. Louise loved the outdoors whether helping Everette with their cattle herd or on the lake fishing with her daughter and son in law. Above all the thing she loved most was her family and taking care of them. Her nieces and nephews where among her favorites. All could tell you multiple stories of how she impacted their lives and the fun they had with her. She showed that love through her cooking. She always prepared more than enough to feed an army. Many would argue that her best dishes were fried chicken and her chicken and noodles. She passed many attributes on to her children, grandchildren, and great children. She is preceded in the death by parents, Claude and Vernie Simmons, as well as brothers and sisters, Clara Belle Brock, Sonny Simmons, Verna Lee Chambers, Neta Mae Koutz, Maxine Hale, Burl Simmons, Bob Simmons, and Donald Simmons, as well as son, Foster Leroy. She is survived by her husband Everette Dale Whitney of the home, her son Vernon Dale wife, Mary, and their 5 children, Sharise, Nievea, Kayde, Myra, and Eli of Clinton, Oklahoma; her daughter, Angela and her husband, Dennis Pearson of Dacoma, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jessica and Randy Hanks, along with their children, Whitney and Waylon, of Waynoka, Karlea and Ryan Irvin, along with their child, Oliver, and soon to join Bennette; brother C.W. Simmons and wife, Margie, of Enid, and brother, Paul Simmons of Waynoka; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
