Betty Lee McDaris was born on March 2, 1927 in Beggs, Oklahoma to the late William Craig and Mattie (Nimmo) Hamilton. Betty passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2020 in Claremore at ninety-three years of age. She enjoyed sewing, making ear rings, gardening, fishing, and playing bingo. Betty loved eating out at restaurants and Mexican food was her favorite. She looked forward to family gatherings. Betty was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Beggs in 1958. Betty worked as a pharmacy clerk in Beggs and later at St. Francis as a nurse’s aide. She is preceded in death by her father, William Craig Hamilton, mother, Mattie Lee Wagoner, husbands Ira Lee and Charles McDaris, siblings Bill Hamilton, Johnny Craig Hamilton, Mary Ruth Southard, Geneva Keith, and Bobby Ray Hamilton, step siblings, Archie Wagoner, Earl Wagoner, Bill Wagoner, Bobby Gene Wagoner, Art Vernon Wagoner, Beulah St. Cyr, Ruthie Lee, Eula Swanson and Dorothy Reed. Those left to cherish all of the great memories of Betty are her children James Lee and wife Laura, Shirley Steiner(Charlie Cartledge), Gail Harvey, and Katy Ollis and husband Joe, brothers, Jimmy Burl Hamilton and Troy Wagoner, her best friend of ninety years, Mary Lou Bell, grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Adrian Lee, Carrie Browning, Billy Harvey, Bart Harvey, Greta Manus, Kelly Steiner, Brent Steiner and Bruce Bryant, numerous great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A committal service will be held at a later date at the Beggs Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
