He worked for Pearl Brewing Co., Ballantine Brewing Co. and McCarthy Hicks which became Churchill Distributors before owning and operating Harpers Choice Liquors from 1986-1999. And, then as a “non-paid” employee of North Ridge Wine & Spirits from 2000-2020 which is owned by his three sons. He always was the best employee because, as he would always say “I show up early and I don’t steal.” Mr. Bill influenced many, many lives as president of the Howard County Youth Hockey Club in the early 1970’s-mid-1980’s. He was very instrumental in growing the sport of ice hockey in Howard County and the entire Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia region. He took a small group of 25 young hockey players and set the foundation for what the club has become today with over 500 players. He loved working and being at the liquor store. He knew everyone’s name. And, they knew his. Always humble, strong, tough but fair, he was loved by his family and his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
