Obituary Arlene Benson, age 90, of Cannon Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 at Cannon Rivers Senior Living. Arlene was born on January 1, 1930 in Goodhue County, the daughter of Clarence and Emma Duden. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1948. On July 8, 1960, Arlene married Ted Benson in Red Wing. The couple farmed for many years and Arlene enjoyed being a homemaker. She was active in Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, and had served as a clerk in township elections. Arlene was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She loved having people stop by and visit; the coffee pot was always on. You never left hungry. She especially loved spending time with the grandchildren and having sleepovers with them. Survivors include her children Pat (Rose) Benson, Tim (Diane) Benson, and Alan (Terri) Benson; grandchildren Cassie (Mike) Navarro, Lucas Benson, Katie (Jesse) Gesme, Ginny (Blake) Benson, Matt (Korie) Benson and Holly Benson; step-grandchildren Stacy (John) Lance, Kevin Mehrkens, Jonathan Mehrkens, and Lincoln (Anna) Mehrkens; great-grandchildren Edward and Jonah Navarro; step great-grandchildren Tanner Thuman and Weston Possehl; brother Duane (Jackie) Duden; sister Marion Songlia; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Emma Duden, her husband Ted Benson, sister Lorraine (Alex) Huppert, brother-in-law Tom Songlia, nephew Brett Duden; and other brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation for Arlene will be on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 3 – 6:00 pm, at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. The funeral will be on Monday, March 2, at 11:00 am, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, 1534 West Ave, Red Wing, MN 55066. There will also be a visitation at the Church one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
