Obituary Mr. Jerry Lee Honeycutt, 75, of Dunn passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Senter’s Memory Care of Fuquay Varina, NC. Mr. Honeycutt was born on July 2, 1944 in Sampson County to the late Raymond Lee Honeycutt and Eunice Spell Honeycutt Kirby. He was a 1962 graduate of Midway High School and attended NC State University. During his lifetime he worked in farming, construction, various sales positions and in real estate appraisals. He was former member of the Mingo Masonic Lodge and the Sudan Shriners where he spent many hours and danced many miles of parade routes as a Dunn Clown, spreading lots of laughter and joy with the crowds and everyone he met. After leaving Dunn in 1981, he lived in several places including Raleigh, South Carolina, and Wilson before he returned to Dunn. After his health began to decline he became a long-time resident of Senior Citizens Village and Cornerstone Nursing Home where he enjoyed spending time with all of the staff, residents, and guests. He enjoyed singing during the worship services, playing games, and telling stories with all who would take the time to listen. He is preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Rev. C.W. Kirby. He is survived by his 3 children, Angela H. Warren and husband Ricky Warren; Ginger H. Johnson and husband Brian S. Johnson; Jerry Lee Honeycutt, II and wife Julie S. Honeycutt. He had 5 grandchildren, Eli Warren, Colby and Reid Johnson, Jonathan and Lena Honeycutt., all of Dunn. Family will receive friends at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 to 7 pm and other times at the home of Ricky & Angela Warren. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robert’s Grove OFWB Church or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
