William F Bill Herhold January 9 1942 January 13 2020

January 9 1942 January 13 2020
January 9, 1942 to January 13, 2020. William Frank Herhold was the first-born child to Harmon Frank Herhold and Josephine Billie Herhold on January 9th, 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Raised in a loving home built by his great grandfather, he attended Hatch Grade School and Oak Park River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL. His classmates from the Class of 1959 at OPRF have remained life long, cherished friends. He attended SIU and Northern Illinois University and held different positions in his career before finding his true passion with Taco Comfort Systems. Bill met the love his life, Carol Jayne Wipfli in 1966 while she was in nurse’s training in Madison, WI. They were married on September 9th, 1967 in Marshfield Wisconsin where she was raised. They made their first home in Rolling Meadows, IL. Their daughter Jenna was born in 1968 and son Bill in 1970. Over their 48 years of marriage she and Bill owned homes in Orland Park, Hoffman Estates, McHenry, Palatine, Estero Fl and a beautiful lake home in the north woods of WI called “Birchvue.” Subsequently they found their wonderful home in Florida in 2005 endearingly called “Palmvue.” His first passion in life was photography. While traveling he loved photographing the beauty of the world around him, a hobby he passed down to his son. His other passion in life was boating and being on the water. As a young adult he bought and restored his first sailboat harbored it in Belmont Harbor, Chicago. His love of being on the water stayed with him throughout his life. This hobby and the love of being on the water lives on in his daughter Jenna. He loved time with his family on the Fox River Chain O’ Lakes, showing them the joy of navigating the waters. He purchased and restored many antique, wooden Chris Craft’s and participated in the building of the Blackhawk Chapter of Antique Boats and Classic Boats. The career and work family he had been searching for his entire life was found at Taco Comfort Systems in the late 80’s. His flair for building a business flourished at Taco. He began an annual fishing Expedition with valued partners and key clients in which he treasured those times and memories. He became Vice President of OEM Sales. His job awarded him and Carol wonderful travels including the Schlossberg Castle which they treasured. They met so many wonderful people through his time at Taco. Bill’s and Carol’s later life passions focused on golf and being surrounded by friends, all of which were fulfilled in the Country Creek Community. He followed his love of golf and striving for the hole in one when he and Carol moved to Country Creek Community in 2009. They enjoyed filing their days with golf, bocce ball, socializing with wonderful friends from all over the country. His desire to be surrounded by great friends at County Creek enriched Bill’s and Carol’s final golden years. After Carol’s passing Bill reconnected with his childhood playmate and OPRF classmate, Peg Martin. They enjoyed the same birthday of January 9. He and the family were very grateful for their friendship, laughter and companionship. He loved his furry companions, Misty the Irish Setter, and later cats, Max, Tigger and Boots. The quest for the hole in one was finally achieved on the 6th hole Par 3 133 yards using a 7 Hybrid club. As he put it, it bounced twice and rolled toward the cup to where it sat on the edge of the cup…a slight breeze caught the flag, moved the pin and the ball dropped into the hole. The breeze was provided by Carol from high above.” Bill is survived by his daughter Jennifer Lynn Herhold, son, William Andrew Herhold and daughter-in-law, Dana Herhold, Sister, Jeri Stine and brother-in-law, Howard Stine, nephews, Douglas Stine and James Stine.
