Wayne’s Obituary Wayne Lee Carbaugh, 74, of Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020. Funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie. The family invites friends to a dinner after the burial at the Tonganoxie VFW Post #9271. Wayne was born December 21, 1945 in Tonganoxie, the son of Lester and Minnie (Stewart) Carbaugh. He served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to E. Darlene (Rose) Carbaugh in Lawrence, KS on November 10, 1967. She survives of the home. He owned his own transportation company, and retired from Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, KS. He was a former member of the Stanwood Friends Church of McLouth, KS. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Murdock in 2002, and by his brothers Don and Lester “Bud” Carbaugh. Other survivors include: a son, Gary Carbaugh, Basehor, KS; a daughter, Kristy (Carbaugh) Hallgrimson, Queens City, MO; a son-in-law, Alan Murdock, Farley, MO; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Carbaugh, Olathe, KS; three sisters: Irene Taylor, Independence, MO, Betty Elmer, Tonganoxie, KS, Mildred Crouse, Tonganoxie, KS; 6 grandchildren: Alicia, Carissa, Randy, Christian, Audrey and Kirsten; 3 step- grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Sasha. Wayne was known to his children and grandchildren for his love of family history and as the collector of many quotes. He loved telling stories and sharing memories with extended family at reunions and gatherings. He was known for his easy laugh and “smokin and jokin.” He is greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
