Wayne’s Obituary Wayne Allen Thomason Sr., 83, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with his savior, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born January 10, 1937 in Old Fort, NC, son of the late Charles William Thomason and Laura Lipe Thomason. Wayne was a veteran of the US Army and for most of his life was a professional truck driver. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Bernice Rushing Thomason; brother, Bill Thomason (Joyce); sons, Wayne Allen Thomason Jr. (Sherry) and Ron Walker (Melody); daughters, Andra Thomason Rushing (Randy), Glenda Standridge and Beverly Mauldin; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Alvin Melton, will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
