Obituary Wallace H. Champeny, 94, life-long Oxford resident, passed away January 14, 2020 at Medicalodge of Oxford, KS. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with the Kansas Audubon Society 210 Southwind Place, Manhattan, KS 66503 and Oxford Friendship Meals PO Box 91, Oxford, KS 67119. Wallace Champeny was born August 14, 1925, the son of Harry and Gladys (Wallace) Champeny in Wichita, KS. Wallace graduated from Oxford High School in 1943 and then attended Kansas State University where he also graduated. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Europe and during the Korean War. Wallace owned and operated of the Old Oxford Milling company just north of Oxford. Wallace was a passionate birdwatcher and nature-lover. He also was passionate about his beloved K-State athletic teams, especially basketball. He was gentle, generous and intelligent. He supported many charities, including the Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund, the Sierra Club and numerous K-State charity or fund-raising events. He is preceded in death by his parents.
