November 21 1960 December 30 2019
Vicki was born to Robert and Ortencia Kathain on November 21, 1960 at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, CA. She passed away suddenly on December 30, 2019 at Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA surrounded by her loved ones. Vicki is predeceased by her Grandparents, her first husband Matthew Carlson, sister-in-law’s Ann and Cindy, brother-in-law Ed, aunt Connie, cousin Connie, and many beloved relatives. She is survived by her husband Carlis Roberts Jr., her parents; mother-in-law Faye; her children Matthew Jr., Carlis III, and Sarah; daughter-in-law’s Jacqueline and Anastacia; son-in-law Comrade; grandchildren Josie, Carlis IV, Aleena, Bella, Cali, Cherish, Charlie, and Max; siblings Robert, John, Nellie, and Matthew; as well as many loving family members. Vicki a Fremont resident and graduate of Kennedy High School, was a generous, giving, thoughtful, and selfless person. She worked hard to make sure everyone around her was safe and loved. She was always a good go to person whenever there was a crisis and her family knew they could call on her. She was a constant in all her family and friends’ lives. Her selflessness showed immensely as a child and continued into her adult life. Vicki had a strength like no other. From the time she was young until now, Vicki shouldered a lot of responsibility the best she could. She was the one to teach her brother how to bat and catch a ball as a left hander as well as to play tennis because she needed a partner to play with. Her strength and courage grew more when she started her own family, then soon after losing her first husband, at such a young age, and raising her first-born son on her own. Vicki brought her strength, courage, love, and selflessness with her when she met her husband of 35 years and had two more children. She worked tirelessly to care for her family and to make sure her kids had a full enjoyable life as well as gave with all of her heart. She did her best to make sure everyone around her was cared for. Vicki has enjoyed many activities in life including track and field, dance, camping, vacations, and attending the Oakland A’s games every chance she got. She enjoyed taking her three children on trips to Disneyland, Tahoe, the family cabin in Dorrington, and so many more places. She was wanting to take her 8 grandchildren to Disneyland together, to share with them something she enjoyed doing with her kids. It is something she felt was important to do together. She loved going and watching her eldest grandchildren during their sporting activities. She enjoyed every minute she could with her grandchildren with so much love and laughter shared. She was looking forward to finding out what the gender of her newest grandchild was going to be and was excited at the opportunity to hold him this coming April. Vicki worked for McDonalds for over 25 years, as well as a variety of service industry jobs, and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Fremont (formerly St. Leonard’s). Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM, Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont.
