Sophia’s Obituary Mrs. Sophia M. Geiger, 78, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Avante at Ormond Beach, Florida. She was born August 1, 1941 in Lorton, Virginia to Robert E. Lee and Elizabeth (Morrison) Harrison. Sophia safe guarded thousands of students over the years as a school crossing guard with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office while in Florida and in Maryland prior to that. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Sophia lived in many places around the country including Maryland, Connecticut (multiple times), New York (multiple times), Texas, California before retiring in Florida. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music, playing Bingo, Bunko and other games and she loved going on cruises with her friends and family. She loved all her pets and she appreciated Kinkade paintings. Sophia is survived by her Children, David A. Geiger of Dublin, CA; Matthew J. (Kimberly) Geiger of Watertown, CT; and Deborah L. (Frank) White of Port Orange, FL and three grandchildren Cassidy Geiger, Kira Geiger and Danyale White. Her brother Richard Harrison and sister Camelle Firda are still alive. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David J. Geiger who passed away 5 years ago and her brother John Harrison and sister Rose Bailey who also have passed before her. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Friday, January 10th at 11:00 am at Lohman Funeral Home; 1423 Bellevue Avenue, in Daytona Beach, Florida. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers we ask that Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html), or to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org/donate) Arrangements are under the care of Cardwell-Baggettt & Summers Funeral Home.
