Sonney’s Obituary Sonney Preston Calvert, 76, of Warrior, Alabama, passed on to heaven on January 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Calvert; sons, Heath Calvert and his wife Tracy of Mt. Olive, and Hugh Calvert and his wife Aimee of Franklin, TN; 5 grandchildren; Reid Calvert, 19; Kristen Calvert, 18; Katie Calvert, 15; Faythe Calvert, 14; and Kenzie Calvert, 11; one brother, Jimmy Calvert, and one sister, Charlotte Osbourne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Dessie, and his younger brother Greg. Born on July 8, 1943, he graduated from Warrior High School in 1961. Sonney was a man of faith, giving his life to Christ in August 1971. He loved the Lord and his Church family. He served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and deacon at New Bethel Baptist church for 35 years. Previously, he served in the community as a Little League Baseball coach, Cub Scout Troop Leader and Boy Scout Leader. He never met a stranger and the community will miss him greatly. The family will be receiving visitors at New Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Read More
