Shirley “Von”‘s Obituary Mr. Shirley Lamar “Von” McGhee, 77, of Poarch, AL., passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones. Shirley was born in Atmore, AL., on November 21, 1942. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eldnar McGhee; three sons: Stevie McGhee, Derrick McGhee, and Kevin (Tawana) McGhee, all of Poarch, AL.; two daughters: Teresa (Terry) Smith of Poarch, AL., and Pamela (Willie) Yates of Flomaton, AL.; special nieces: Shirley “Pug” (Aubrey) Roberson of Poarch, AL., and Margaret (Ronnie) Baggett of Huxford, AL.; five brothers: James Martin of Spanish Fort, AL., Phillip (Donna) Martin of Huxford, AL., Matt (Denise) Martin of Flomaton, AL., Randy (Carrie) Martin of Poarch, AL., and Ellis (Cindy) Martin of Wetumpka, AL.; three sisters: Olivette McGhee of Poarch, AL., Patricia Ann Tew of Brundidge, AL., and Angela Devilbiss of Perdido, AL.; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley is preceded in death by one daughter: Carol Ann McGhee; his parents, Willie Lee (AD) Martin and Shirley McGhee of Poarch, AL.; three brothers: Alex “Jody” Martin of Poarch, AL., Robert “Bobby” Martin of Atmore, AL., and Earl McGhee of Foley, AL.; two grandchildren: Courtney and TyAnthony McGhee. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 at 2 PM from the Atmore Apostolic Church with Rev. Tim James and Bro. Hunter Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Judson Indian Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Jarrod Tew, James Agerton, Brady Tew, Lucas Martin, Brad Martin, Brice Agerton. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 6 PM until service time on Friday at 2 PM at the Atmore Apostolic Church. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Read More
