Shirley Mae Rieker, age 93 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. She was born January 06, 1927, in Trenton, IL, the daughter of John and Ida (nee Poos) Ganz. On September 08, 1979, she married Leonard C. Rieker at Baldwin, MO, He survives in Highland, IL . She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. She was also a member of EvUCC Womens Guild. Shirley was born in Trenton, Il and worked in real estate in St. Louis, MO. She later worked in management at Dierbergs Market and Jewel Tea Supermarket in St. Louis. Shirley had her pilots license and enjoyed travel and playing golf. She was a talented artist and enjoyed oil painting. She and her husband lived in Ocala, Florida for 8 years and moved home to Trenton and then to Highland, IL. Rieker, Arnold, MO Grandchild – Phaedra Hastings, Port Saint Lucie, FL Grandchild – Aria Carter, Arcadia, CA Step Grandchild – Jessica Moman Step Grandchild – Jennifer Henneke Step Grandchild – Dillon Sontonge Great Grandchild – Nicole (Bryn) Hastings Great Grandchild – Victoria Hastings She was preceded in death by : Father – John E. Ganz – Died 1928 Mother – Ida Marie Ganz, nee Poos – Died 1960 Sister – Cleola E. Walters, nee Ganz – Died 10/05/2012 First Husband – John L. Hughes – Married 05/04/1946 – Divorced 09/04/1974 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL . Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. Private interment will be at Trenton Cemetery in Trenton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for children or Evangelical United Church of Christ.
