SHIRLEY LEE “GRAN” (YATES) HORN, 80 years of age of Vansant, VA, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Pinkie (Deel) Yates. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Vansant Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a wonderful homemaker and was a nurse’s aide at Grundy Hospital. In addition to her parents, she… was preceded in death by her son, Mickey Lee Horn; Sister: Lula Stanley and Brothers: Roger Yates and Bobby Gene Yates. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63-years, Albert Earnest Horn of Vansant, VA; Son: Rickey Allen (Ruth) Horn of Grundy, VA; Daughter-in-Law: Karen Horn of Vansant, VA; Grandchildren: Jeremy Shane (Morgan) Horn of Ashland, VA, Tasha Lee Horn of Vansant, VA, Shenna Ann Horn (Anthony) Viers of Vansant, VA, Joshua (Jessica) Horn of Vansant, VA; Great-Grandchildren: Capella Horn of Vansant, VA, Cole Viers of Vansant, VA, Grayson Horn of Ashland, VA, Eisley Horn of Vansant, VA, Evelyn Horn of Ashland, VA, Rosie Horn of Vansant, VA; Sisters: Lois (Sissy) Nelson and Patsy Grey; Special Niece: Tonya Helton. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for SHIRLEY LEE “GRAN” (YATES) HORN will be conducted Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Rife (Vansant Church of Christ) and Evg. William L. Neeley (New Hope Christian Church) officiating with entombment to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Active Pallbearers will be Shane Horn, Josh Horn, Anthony Viers, Randy Vandyke, Jim Horn, Gage Stacy, David Stacy, Bobby Yates Jr. and Keith Helton. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Shortridge, Harold Cantrell, Donald Hagerman, Clayton Vandyke, Legacy Hospice Staff, The Caring Staff of Emergency Room and 3rd Floor of Buchanan General Hospital, Dr. Helton, Dr. Copley, Dr. D. Owens and Staff of Stone Mountain Clinic.
