He was born on December 2, 1932 in Ector, Texas to Ruthie Jane (Hart) and Luther Elbert Clouse. He married his sweetheart Betty Jo Newell on October 10, 1953 in Savoy, Texas. Their love endured over 65 years celebrating the momentous occasion in October 2019 before her death on March 24, 2019. S V is most often identified as the “hardest working man I know” by friends, family and co-workers. He was a tough man with a most generous heart and soul. He would come to the aid of anyone in need if they only ask. Even in his late stages of Dementia he brought joy to those around with quirky antics and responses and a simple enjoyment of whatever might be happening around him. S V is survived by his children: Joe Preston Clouse and wife Deborah of Pottsboro, Sylvia Ann Freyling of Frisco, Lisa Gayle Snyder and husband Greg of Pottsboro, and Robert Dale Clouse of Pottsboro all in Texas along with 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother, Elbert Odell Clouse of Mesquite, Texas. S V is preceded in death by both his parents; sisters, Mary Katherine Teel, Lillian Nell Clouse, Imogene Polk and brother, Luther Elbert Clouse, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held at 347 Quail Creek Circle, Pottsboro, TX 75076 on Saturday, February 8 during a luncheon beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made in his honor to Home Hospice of Grayson and Fannin Counties, 505 W. Center Street, Sherman, Texas 75090 (903) 868-9315.
