Ruth Lorraine Comfort Dodson, 85, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday evening Jan 19th. Ruth was a loving, kind and generous person. To know Ruth was to love her. She retired from Dallas Teachers Credit Union in 1979, where she served as a Senior Loan Officer. In retirement, Ruth was a devoted wife. She and Thomas had a lot of fun doing just what they enjoyed – always together. After Thomas died, Ruth became active in so many local charities. She was a generous person always wanting to help and do for others. She especially loved crocheting blankets for The Wood County Child Advocacy Center, so that each child left with one. Ruth especially enjoyed garage sales, trivia, bible study, old TV shows, music by Sonny James and the Winnsboro Dairy Queen (not in that order). Ruth always greeted people by her signature “Hi Darling”. Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Dodson, her mother Maudie Woods Comfort, father Ralph Comfort Sr., brother Ralph Comfort Jr., grandson Thomas A. Dodson, and nephew Kenneth Comfort. Ruth is survived by son and daughter-in-law Barry and Judy Dodson, nieces Connie Prior and Karen Comfort, niece Jo Ruth Mays and many dear friends. All friends and family are invited to a lunch reception at 11:30am at Pickton United Methodist Church located on FM 269E in Pickton, TX. A graveside service will be held at the Caney Cemetery (on FM 269) 2 miles south of Pickton at 1:00pm. The family is grateful for her final care given by Choice Hospice and Carriage House Nursing Home.
