ROY’s Obituary On December 23, 1944, a baby boy was born to the proud mother of Maxine Williams Woodard whom she named Roy Lee Johnson, Sr. He attended Grand Cane Elementary and went on to DeSoto High School where he graduated then came to Houston, Texas where he worked for Brown & Root as a welder. He finished his work tenure with Modern Welding until he retired. He is preceded in death Martha Johnson and daughter Christy Johnson Lane both of Houston, Texas. He leaves to mourn a daughter, Lequita Johnson Thomas and son−in−law, Roy Thomas of Houston, Texas; sons, Roy Lee Johnson, Jr., of Houston, Texas; eldest, Rev. William Ricks of Nacogdoches, Texas; seven granddaughters, Brittney Lane, Kenesha Lane Mims, Kita Adams, Chasity Perkins, Mariah Brown, Lauryn Ricks, Aryn Ricks; and one grandson, Kaleb Ricks. He also leaves to mourn one great−granddaughter, Kayden Mims of Houston; two brothers, Charles William, Larry Woodard; two sisters, Cathy Woodard and Raquel Woodard (Aunt Sugarmama) of Shreveport, Louisiana and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones.
