Obituary Mr. Robert S. Smith, 74, of Lehighton Pa. passed away Monday, January 13th at his residence. Born in Palmerton, Pa. on October 30, 1945, he was a son of the late Floyd W. & Betty E. (Ahner) Smith. He served our country with the US Navy during the Viet Nam War earning the rank of Chief Petty officer as a weather forecaster with 23 years of service. He was most recently employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot in the electronics department as a night vision & satellite communications specialist. Robert attended church services at Church Of Christ, Allentown, Pa. He was a member of The Lehighton American Legion Post 314, & The Viet Nam Veterans Of Carbon County. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing for Halibut in Alaska, and hunting with the Monterey Peninsula Archery Club Alaska, and spending time at The East Penn Sporting Club, & The Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club. Surviving is a daughter, Julie, wife of Troy Gower of Lehighton, 2 sons, Adam Smith of Kirkland , Washington, Dennis Smith & his wife Nicole of Redmond Washington, 2 sisters, Linda Cotant of Peru, Indiana, Susan Ruch of Rockhill South Carolina, 4 grandchildren, Trey, Maddex, Aros, Titus. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vahnne Gower. Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
