Robert “Bob”‘s Obituary Robert A. “Bob” Pangretic, 69, of Marietta, Georgia and formally of Maspeth Queens, NY, passed away and went to be with the Lord, January 15, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY at Wykoff Heights Hospital, on March 16, 1950. Bob graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. He was a devoted husband and married to his love, Lorraine Pangretic. Bob had an accomplished career as broker with Merrill Lynch for 25 years after completing an advanced two-year apprenticeship on Wall Street. After transitioning from Merrill Lynch, he continued his craft of advanced sales where he worked for Ditek until his untimely illness. He was known for his humor, craft, professionalism, and great competitiveness in the business. Bob was a dedicated sponsor to many incredible people and made lifetime friends where he supported others in the recovery of addiction and overcoming substance abuse. He regularly attended meetings and assisted those who entered rehabilitation centers where he facilitated lifesaving interventions. He worked tirelessly to make himself available to others in their time of need and is credited with countless acts of selfless service. Bob was most proud of his sobriety that he found and maintained since March 3, 2001. His passion was knowing that together “strength” could be achieved by taking “One day at a time” and in obedience to the “Serenity Prayer.” Bob was a diehard Yankees Fan from his earliest years and was often seen wearing a Yankees or Giants cap. In fact, a close friend commented that he knew Bob for more than year before he saw him without his Yankee cap. He loved catching up on the games, projecting outcomes, and even yelling at the mismanagement of the teams. He loved his role as a son, as a brother, and father, as an uncle, as a husband, as a friend, and perhaps most proud of his role as grandfather…he was so incredibly proud of his family. Whether you knew him as Robert, Dad, Bob, Bobby P, Papa, Grandpa Bob, or Pangretic…you were a part of his life, his family, his walk, his character, and his heart. His family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the kindness, thoughtfulness, love, support, and prayers during his illness and for your genuine care for him throughout the years. Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Ryan (Jamie), Chris (Lindsey), Melissa (Ben), Theresa (Ed), and grandchildren, Celina, Anthony, Maximos, Sydney, Remy, Lily, Maddy, and Edward. His older brother, Richard (Terri), Aunt Barbara; and nieces and nephews, Laura, Jared, Gesine, and Jason. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Randall, mother Dorothy and father Richard, who welcomed him into heaven. Visitation to take place at Marietta Funeral and Crematory from 1:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, January 19, 2020 with a service to follow at 3:00pm.
