Ritchie Schwarz Ihrig, of Warrington, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019. She was 84 years old. Ritchie was born on January 17, 1935 in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Wells) Gowen. She was the wife to the late Henry C. Schwarz who passed away in 1982 and later the late John K. Ihrig who passed away in 2008. Ritchie’s father passed away at when she was 12 years old and she later had to quit school so she could work when she was 16. She spent several years at Factory Mutual in Philadelphia doing secretarial work. There she met her first husband. After raising her sons so many years she earned her GED, and re-entered the work force. She spent many years working as a graphic artist and media specialist in the Centennial School District. When funding finally ran out, she took over management of Moreland Towers senior living apartments in Hatboro. She lost her first husband to a boating accident. Several years later she met her second husband, and they retired to Chalfont. Ritchie loved to travel and a memorable trip was a tour of Australia and New Zealand. After losing her second husband, she embarked on world travel. She made trips to France, Sicily, Russia, and South Africa. As hobbies Ritchie raised several generations of Labrador Retrievers, and always had multiple cats. She also enjoyed doll houses and regularly haunted miniature shows. She was a life-long fan of Bugs Bunny. Ritchie was an avid feeder of wild birds, and occasionally joined her eldest son on rare expeditions seeking rare birds. Ritchie is survived by two sons: Kurt R. Schwarz and his wife Patsy and Eric J. Schwarz and is predeceased by her son, Craig H. Schwarz. She is survived by her daughter in law Amy as well as her grandson Austin. Services for Ritchie have not been scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Ann Silverman Health Clinic, 595 W. State St. Doylestown, PA 18901.
