Obituary of Onofrio Bruno Onofrio Bruno, 96, died on January 12, 2020 at the Gardens at Monroe. Onofrio was born in Molfetta, Italy and came to the United States in 1948. He resided in Hoboken, NJ and Hicksville, Long Island, before moving to The Ponds, Monroe Township, NJ twenty one years ago. Onofrio was a Merchant Marine in Italy during World War II. He was a carpenter by trade, and worked on the World Trade Center and the Nassau Coliseum. Upon his retirement he became a partner at a five star restaurant located in West New York, NJ. Onofrio was a semi professional soccer player and a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church. Onofrio is preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters. Onofrio is survived by his loving wife Angela (DeRuvo) Bruno of Monroe Township, NJ, sons; Dominick Bruno and his wife Helen McEntee of Gaithersburg, MD, Joseph Bruno and his wife Suzanne of Raymond, ME, four grandchildren; Adrienne Bruno and her husband Adam Lawson, Julia Bruno and her husband David Pascarella, Dominque Bruno and her husband Nicholas Mick and Alexander Bruno and three great grandchildren; Josephine and Clifford Lawson and Claire Pascarella. Also surviving are extended family members and friends. Visitation will be 4-7pm on Wednesday January 15, 2020 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Thursday from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, 185 Applegarth Rd, Monroe Twp., NJ followed by entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
