Mitsuaki Shimada, Uncle Bob to family and Mike to SGI family, passed away on January 29, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was born to parents, Fukuei and Shizue Shimada on December 12, 1947 in Hokkaido, Japan. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Lisa Shimada; daughter, Helen Shimada; two sons, Richard Shimada, Eric Shimada; granddaughter, Brooklyn Trinh; three sisters, Ayako Harie, Yoko Meguro, Hisako Akutagawa; four brothers, Isao Shimada, Jun Shimada, Shigeaki Shimada and Kunihiro Shimada; as well as a host of friends and other family members. Preceding him in death are his father, Fukuei Shimada; mother, Shizue (Takaoka) Shimada; and two brothers, Katsuaki Shimada and Hideki Shimada. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Shimada, Eric Shimada, Michael Poon, Patrick Poon, Alden Au and David Phan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mitsuaki Shimada to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/ . The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, February 2, 2020 From 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the chapel at SouthPark Funeral Home; a Buddhist prayer service will begin at 10:00 AM; followed by a burial at SouthPark Cemetery, 1310 N.
