Mary McKnight Walls October 07, 1927 – January 11, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Mary McKnight Walls was born on October 7, 1927 to the late Jesse and Addie McKnight of Davidson, NC. She was the fourth oldest of nine siblings. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Melton Walls; siblings: Anna Goode, Mason McKnight, Waddell McKnight, Jesse McKnight, Nancy McKnight and grandson, Troy L. Walls. Mary received her education from Torrence Lytle Public School System. She was employed as a school crossing guard in New York City for many years. She later returned to North Carolina and was employed at Cannon Mills for twenty one years until she retired. She joined Bethpage Presbyterian Church at a young age. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher. She remained an active member until her health began to decline. Her favorite thing to do was cook. She enjoyed making the homemade ice cream that everyone loved. Mary was also an excellent softball player. She was very soft spoken, humble and never complained about anything. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four daughters: Vernie N. Cotto(William), Constance Walls, Yvonne Walls, Rita Walls Love (Deric); three siblings: Catherine Moss (Tony), Myrtle Franks (George), James McKnight (Lydia); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a sister-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2020 at Bethpage United Presbyterian Church located at 8701 Mooresville Rd. in Concord. The visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Lamb Funeral Home Inc. will be serving the family.
