Mary Lee’s Obituary Mary Lee Evans, age 74, of Hollister, MO, formerly of Monett, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at CoxBransonHospital in Branson, MO. Mary Lee was born on June 18, 1945 in Monett’s new hospital, daughter of the late Leroy and Mary (Henson) Halsey. She graduated from Monett High School in 1963 and then attended SMS. On December 2, 1967, she and her high school sweetheart, Samuel (Buddy) Evans, were united in marriage in Monett. They were blessed with each other’s love for forty-seven years. Mary Lee spent her working years doing a variety of jobs until they moved to Hollister where she spent nineteen years working for Skaggs Hospital in the home care department, which she enjoyed very much until her retirement in 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. (Buddy) Evans. Mary Lee is survived by her step-daughter, Valery Richards, of Hollister; one step- grandson, Christopher Chatterton, of Hollister; one step-granddaughter, Mercedes Wilson of Salt Lake City, UT; and a host of nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Evans will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Reverend Tony Martin will officiate. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery, south of Monett. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
