Mary Carroll, 97, passed away Friday, January 24, at The Gardens at Barry Road, Kansas City, MO. She was born December 16, 1922 at Abdal, NE to Anton and Marie (Andersen) Damm. Mary married Gale Carroll on November 24, 1941 in Belleville, KS. They were married 78 years. He survives. Mary and Gale lived in Pratt from December 1941 to May 1948. They moved back to Pratt in August 1959 and lived here until they moved to the Kansas City area in October 2018. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt. She worked in the Pratt County Clerks office, was clerk of the Selective Service Office in Pratt, and retired from Farmers Home Administration, Pratt office. Mary was a member of PTA for 21 consecutive years. She was also a volunteer on the Election Board/Ward Supervisor, and a volunteer at the PRMC Auxiliary. Mary is preceded in death by her ¬parents; 4 brothers; ¬3 sisters; 1 son and his wife, Raymond (Frances) Carroll; 2 grandchildren, Jonathan Jorns (infant), and Marie Jorns Cotter; and ¬1 step-grandchild, Shannon Jorns. Survivors include her husband Gale, Kansas City, MO; son Roy (Rita) Carroll, Leavenworth, KS; daughters Sue (John Paul) Jorns, Pratt, KS; Cindy (Dennis) Owca, Highland, MD; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; and 2 step-great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, service pending. Memorials or donations may be made to the PRMC Auxiliary or the First United Methodist Church in Pratt in care of Larrison Mortuary.
