Margaret Reichert Porter, 87 of Marietta, GA passed away on 1-1-2020. Born to George and Inez Manson Reichert on their family farm in Brunswick, Missouri. She graduated from Avila University, formerly St Theresa College as a Registered Nurse. She practiced nursing in Kansas City, Denver, Kuwait, North Dakota and 23 years of elder care in Pratt, Kansas. She married William J. Porter in June of 1960 and spent their first year of marriage in Kuwait working in a local hospital for an oil company. Dr. Porter passed away in 1977. She is survived by her son Mark Porter and wife Carol, daughter Mary and husband Jim Kocian, daughter Kris and husband Mark Sunderland, Grandchildren Paul, Matthew, Thomas Porter, Ashley Elles, Cameron Kocian, Lauren Riess, and Tyler Sunderland, and great-grandchildren Easton and Aurora Elles and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Margaret grew up on a farm and was the oldest of 16 children. She is survived by her brothers Luke, Pat, John, Tom, Matt, Steve, and Terry, her sisters Ann, Donna, Kathleen, Eva and Jeannie. She is preceded in death by her siblings Vince and Father Henry, and Sister Mary Ellen. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading, games, spending time at the family cabin in Colorado. Margaret also spent time volunteering at the Pratt Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, Food Pantry, Red Cross, helped out at the local nursing home where she had worked, and many other ministries at Sacred Heart Church, where she was a member for 47 years. A rosary will be held on Friday, January 17th, 2020 at 6:30 PM at the Larrison Mortuary (300 Country Club Rd, Pratt, KS) followed by visitation with the family from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (332 N Oak St, Pratt, KS). The family will host a luncheon afterwards. All who can are invited to attend. There will be a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery (Stout St, Pratt, KS) following the lunch. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart or Diabetes Associations.
