Obituary Lynne M. Ferris, age 78, of New Era, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at home. She was born August 16, 1941 in Saginaw, the daughter of John and Beulah (Paxton) Overton. She married her middle school sweetheart, Richard Ferris on December 19, 1959. Lynne was raised in Ludington and moved to East Grand Rapids upon her marriage to Richard. They moved to New Era in 1980. They co-owned and operated the Walkerville Bar for twenty years. Mrs. Ferris loved being with her children and grandchildren. She was a very thoughtful and giving person and was an animal lover. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, loved baking sour cream cookies and German chocolate cake, shopping and spending time with family. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Ruthanne) Ferris of Lowell and Mark Ferris of New Era; grandchildren, Joshua Ferris of Lowell and Heather (Michael) Visscher of Clarksville; her brother, Lyle (Marge) Overton of Holland; and sisters-in-law, Betty and Marylou. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard in 2013. The family will be fulfilling Lynne and Richard’s wishes by scattering their cremains in the Rocky Mountains later this year. There will be no services.
