Obituary Lula Mae Russ-Lennon, daughter of the late William Henry and Queen Victoria Shaw Russ was born on May 10, 1924 in Council, North Carolina. She departed this life Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Doshia Drakewood and Lily B. Smith; siblings, Viola Beatty, Reather Larkins, Betsy, Willie, Cephus, Raymond, Chester and Joseph (Buster) Russ. Lula came to Christ at an early age. She joined Kitchen Branch Church, Council, North Carolina and remained faithful there until she moved to Duquesne, Pennsylvania. There she was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church until she met and was married to James D. Lennon for 41 years. She later joined Macedonia Baptist Church. While at Macedonia, she became a long-time member for over 70 years. She was President of the Pastor’s Aid Society, Kizzie Clemens Guild, and Gospel Chorus. She served as den mother for the Cub Scouts Pack 316. She also volunteered for over 20 years at Kane Regional Center in McKeesport, PA. She loved cooking for her family and baking for friends as well. She was noted for her Sweet Potato Pies, Pineapple Upside Down and German Chocolate Cakes. Lula leaves to cherish her life, one son, Donald Lennon; daughter, Iris (Edward) Dudley, Sr.; adopted son, Craig J. Barlow; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Frances Russ and Jesse O’Neal; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
