Lorraine’s Obituary Lorraine E. Kenton, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, IL, peacefully passed on Thursday, January 9, 2020, in the company of her children. She was born on October 4, 1929, at home, in Chicago to Albert and Elizabeth Turner. Lorraine lived on Harding Avenue in Chicago until she married the love of her life, Richard Kenton, on September 2, 1950. As a young woman she worked at Daylight Screen and later with her sister-in-law at City of Florence clothing store. They raised their family in West Chicago. Lorraine volunteered with the Delnor Hospital Auxiliary and was an active mother who volunteered with Girl Scouts and the PTA. When her children were teenagers she joined Eastern Airlines as a supervisor in reservations where she worked for 20-plus years. Richard and Lorraine moved to Wheaton in 1975. She enjoyed crafts of all sorts and would make Halloween costumes and holiday decorations. She loved to bake cookies and brownies, was a whiz with a sewing machine. She was a people person who was happiest when spending time with friends and family. Richard and Lorraine moved to Windsor Park in 2002. Lorraine took care of her husband through his battle with Parkinson’s. When he passed she turned her love and energy (and cookies) towards everyone she knew at Windsor. She moved to skilled nursing in 2018 where she enjoyed participating in all the many activities offered and even took on the role of Resident Council President, at age 89! Lorraine loved life and everything in it. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Kustusch of Portland, OR and James (Sharen) Kenton of Connecticut, four grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsey, Zachary and Alexander, two great-grandchildren, Asher and Aiden, and her beloved cat, Abby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Eleanor Haberkorn, and her husband, Richard. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 3:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Family and friends may sign a guest book at hultgrenfh.com.
