Lawrence’s Obituary Lawrence Edward Hanes, Sr., of Dalton passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 just shy of his 88th birthday. He was a lifelong resident of Dalton, but spent the last two years in a home in Macon, GA where he stayed until his death. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Etta Hanes; brothers, Gene and Frank Hanes; wife, Virginia Hanes. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Laura Hanes of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Matthew and Erik Hanes; nieces, Connie Hanes of Dalton and Debbie Boyd of McMinnville, TN. Lawrence (TD Hanes) was well known for his athletic achievements growing up in the Threadmill Village community and attending Dalton High School, graduating in 1950. He worked 30 years as a truck driver locally delivering freight in Dalton and Calhoun. He was likely best known as a musician, playing his fiddle and forming numerous bands over a 50 year period. Lawrence was a friend to everyone he encountered, always had a smile and never met a stranger, especially if they wanted to talk about his beloved Georgia Bulldogs! There will be an opportunity to visit with the family on Friday at Love Funeral Home from 4-8 pm. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 with Rev. Ricky Kisor officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. Love Funeral Home, 706-278-3313. Read More
