Passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ on January 12, 2020, at 8:53P after unexpectedly collapsing at her brother’s home in Haddonfield, NJ the prior morning. Kathy was recognized for her tireless service to her community and selfless, loving attitude towards all. She was respected and cherished by everyone who knew her. On July 9, 1943 Kathy was born to the late Dr. Charles and Grace Tassini. Kathy was raised in Manasquan along with her two Brothers, Jim and Jack. Kathy worked determinedly to achieve and surpass her goals. She graduated Manasquan Elementary School and then Star of the Sea High School. She attended The Stuart School of Business and achieved accreditation in business. This education landed her a job at Fort Monmouth. It is during this time she married and had two children, Christopher and Donegal. Having married an officer of the United States Army, Kathy traveled the US with her family, before settling down in Manasquan, NJ to raise her two children. Kathy sacrificed her life for her children while earning degrees at Ocean County College, Rutgers and finally her Masters at Monmouth University, while working several jobs to support her family. Upon completing education, Kathy settled into a career as a cost accountant in a large construction firm. After numerous years she finished her work experience closer to home as a bookkeeper for a local construction company. While living in Manasquan, Kathy not only gave of herself to her family, education and career; she was dedicated to public service with the Manasquan, and then Brielle First Aid squads. When not working, Kathy would be seen rising to the occasion no matter the time the first aid whistle blew. Her dedication led to several roles on the board of directors for both organizations. This devotion also earned her a lifetime membership. Anyone who knew Kathy understood her passion for canines. Although she owned several breeds throughout her lifetime, her last several years were loyal to the Portuguese Water Dog breed. Kathy spent her final years in Mount Dora, FL with her three ‘Portees’. She was happiest working with the members of her Dog Club and attending dog shows where she was proud of the achievements of her own dogs that she trained and showed. Kathy loved her family dearly and will always be remembered for keeping her family and friends together through her consistent emails. The recipient list included her sons, brothers and their wives, extended list of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. They could look forward to being entertained with humor and touched by the unconditional love of her words. Kathy is survived by her two sons Christopher (the late Mary), Donegal (Lois Marie); Brothers Jim (Kathy) and Jack (Mary); Grandchildren Jacqueline, Sean and Cheyenne; numerous cousins and friends from where ever she lived and traveled. The Family invites you to celebrate her life on February 22nd, 2020, starting with a 11AM Mass at St. Denis in Manasquan, NJ with a reception to follow at the Manasquan First Aid building.
