Julian K. Rogers, 96, of Temple died on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Central Texas V.A. Hospital in Temple. He was born on August 31, 1923 in Rockdale, Texas to James Kelso and Flossie (Yoakum) Rogers. He enlisted into the United States Army and spent two years in the Army before joining the United States Air Force. He spent 22 years in the Air Force before retiring in 1966 with the WWII Victory Medal, the Humane Action Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal. He then returned to Texas and began working for Liquid Air as a gas plant operator, he retired from there after 16 years. Later in life he became a member of the Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his wife if over 50 years, Yvonne Rogers; his parents, Kelso and Flossie Rogers; three sons, Jimmy, Leonard, and Bill Rogers; two grandchildren; and three brothers. Julian is survived by his daughters, Lindia Cooke and Julie Waltmire; his sons, Michel Jeannot and Dominique Jeannot; sisters, Leona Taylor, Shirley Swindall, and Enolia Purvis; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas. Burial will be in Sandy Creek immediately following. A visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Boyd Taylor, James Taylor, T Strauss, Taylor Strauss, Randy Purvis, Terry Cunningham, and Keri Schlemmer.
