Joyce M. Blount, 85, of Battle Creek, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2020. She was born June 14, 1934, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Elizabeth and Louis Nunn. She moved to Illinois in 1957, after serving 5 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Joyce moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1959. Joyce enjoyed reading, knitting, baking, jigsaw puzzles, and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Blount; parents; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Allan Nunn and a sister, Winnifred Inman. Surviving are her daughters, Janet Blount of Keller, Texas, and Brenda (Bill) Gish, of Battle Creek; granddaughters, Nicole (Steven) Housing of Downer’s Grove, Illinois, Kristen (David) Walker, of Battle Creek; grandson, Ryan Gish of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren, Lewis and Ellie Walker; sisters, Audrey Lawley of Pittsfield, Maine, June Lindstrand of Buchanan, Michigan, and Barbara Dee, of Caribou Maine, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Joyce will be held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Rd. on Tuesday, January 14, at 11:00 am, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
