Joseph Schier Blodgett July 23, 1944 – January 29, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Joseph Schier “Joe” Blodgett, 75, of Derry, NH passed away on Wednesday evening, January 29, 2020 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. Joe was born on July 23, 1944, in Rowley, MA to Margaret E. (Schier) and George C. Blodgett. At the age of ten, he and his family moved to Salem, NH. Joe graduated from the Haverhill Trade School and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, where he served from 1964 to 1968 as a Machinist’s Mate Third Class aboard Coast Guard Cutters in the Pacific and Atlantic. Following his service, Joe began his career as a Machinist, working for Microwave Engineering Corporation in North Andover, MA for 41 years. He loved working with his hands and was proud of his many skilled accomplishments. Joe was also a beekeeper with the Eastern Agricultural Society and an avid blacksmith. He enjoyed working in his yard with his tractors and took great pride in his garden. Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diana L. (Pellerin) Blodgett; his son, Jeffrey J. Blodgett and his wife Kristen E. Blodgett; his daughter, Crystal J. Beland and her husband Anthony R. Beland; his grandchildren, Lily D. Beland, Paige J. Beland, Aaron J. Blodgett, and Katherine L. Blodgett; his sister, Margaret R. Razzaboni; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his three brothers, George S. Blodgett, William S. “Bill” Blodgett, and Robert S. “Bob” Blodgett. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 4-6pm at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A funeral service will be held at 6pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
