John Walter Stevens, 59, of Benicia passed away Sunday in Fremont. He was born in Oakland, California and has lived in Benicia for over 50 years. He worked at several things in His career including being a cook and a welder. John loved traveling, especially the family trip of 11,000 miles around the U.S. seeing all but 10 states. He loved hiking in the Sierra mountains, especially Donahue Pass with his uncle Wally., and being part of the pit crew in his dad’s boat racing career. He was an avid fan of the 49ers, Giants and Warrriors and loved animals especially his mom’s dogs Molly and Tabitha and cats Scarlett and Lizbeth. He is survived by his mom Diane Stevens, son John Michael Stevens; brother Don(Tracy) Stevens; godmother Normalee Pedigo and his uncles Walter & Larry Macedo. He was preceded in death by his father John F. Stevens in 1995 and nephew Ryan Stevens in 2006. Service for John will be private.
